‘Bellingham to West Ham’ – Expert moots ‘perfect transfer for Graham Potter’

West Ham United would drastically improve their midfield by signing Sunderland star Jobe Bellingham, according to Ian Darke.

The TV commentator, speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, believes Graham Potter could get exactly what he needs if he can convince Bellingham to sign at the London Stadium.

The Irons could sign a driving midfield option, and Darke says Sunderland fans will hate the suggestion it could be the England youth international.

“If there’s one area they could improve on other than up top, it would be to look at a driving midfield player similar to what they had with Declan Rice,” he explained.

“Sunderland fans will hate me saying it, but Jobe Bellingham is the kind of player who could fit the bill. He’s the kind of player I think they ought to be looking for. Maybe not in January, but certainly down the line.

“Jobe will play in the Premier League for sure, which could be a good story as his brother hasn’t played in it so far.”

West Ham to sign Bellingham?

Due to his impressive performances in the Championship, his physical attributes along with his obvious family footballing pedigree, Bellingham has attracted many suitors from both England and wider Europe.

The versatile midfielder – who has also operated up front in the past for the Black Cats – does not turn 20 until September this year, and has scored four goals in 22 games this season at the Stadium of Light.

Bellingham is also now a regular for England Under-21s, as Sunderland look to keep their prized asset for as long as they can.
