£120,000-a-week talks on the cards for Jarrod Bowen as West Ham United contract twist thrills pundit
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Jarrod Bowen deserves a new contract at West Ham United for his goal alone in the Conference League final win over Fiorentina, according to Frank McAvennie.
The Daily Mail reported on 8 June that the Irons are looking to hand Bowen, 26, a new contract as his existing deal sees him earn just £60,000-a-week.
It is understood that the former Hull attacker can expect to see his wages double to £120,000-a-week. However, talks are yet to be held between the Hammers and the four-times England international.

Bowen’s not had the most amazing of seasons but he still managed to score 13 goals and supply nine assists in 54 appearances across all competitions for West Ham.
One of those goals will go down in the club’s history too as he netted a 90th-minute winner against Fiorentina in Prague earlier this month to clinch West Ham’s first major trophy in over 40 years.
McAvennie would be delighted to see Bowen be rewarded with a major pay rise.
“Of course he does,” McAvennie told West Ham Zone when asked if Bowen deserves fresh terms.
“He deserves a deal because he’s been consistent.

“He went off the boil a little bit before the World Cup but so did the whole team.
“If we go through on goal, I’d want him over Antonio and he’s a striker.
“He deserves the contract just for that goal [v Fiorentina] alone.”
Bowen joined West Ham from Hull in 2020 and his current £60,000-a-week deal doesn’t expire until 2025.
He’s scored 40 goals and supplied 32 assists in 158 appearances as a Hammers player.
