West Ham United receive boost in Tah chase as Fabrizio Romano shares Manchester United update
West Ham have received a boost in their chase of Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah after Fabrizio Romano claimed Manchester United are not pursuing the German, via CaughtOffside.
Romano claimed in his Daily Briefing that he is not aware of any interest from United, and suggested any links should be ignored while changes are being made with the sporting director.
This has come after West Ham were linked with a £20million transfer move for Tah as The Sun [15 November] claimed Newcastle and Man United were providing stiff opposition to their interest.
An upgrade on the current options
While it may seem on paper that West Ham are no longer in need of a new defender, having brought in Konstantinos Mavropanos in the summer, Tah would represent an upgrade on the current option available to David Moyes in East London.
Particularly with the dip in form Nayef Aguerd has experienced so far this season, the recruitment chiefs at the London Stadium may be viewing Tah as a priority to sure up a leaky West Ham defence.
Tah would bring with him plenty of experience despite being just 27 years old, having earned 20 international caps as somewhat of a regular for the German national team.
Standing at 6ft 5, Tah also offers the height and physicality which is often so desired in a Moyes team and could provide a good threat from aerial balls and set-pieces, where the Hammers have proved to be deadly so far this season with the addition of James Ward-Prowse.
In other West Ham news, the club are readying a new move for a forward after having a £40million bid rejected.
