West Ham United need to get bid in for Amadou Onana before anyone else

David Moyes is keen to add to his midfield department at West Ham United this summer and he could have found the perfect man for the job.

With Mark Noble retiring and Alex Kral heading back to Spartak Moscow after an awful loan spell, the central third of the pitch is looking somewhat thin on the ground but we might have the answer in Ligue 1.

Playing for Lille in the French top flight is 20-year-old midfielder Amadou Onana who has excelled since arriving in the North of France from Hamburg last summer transfer window.

The Belgian under-21 international though is already attracting interest from elsewhere with the Hammers linked with a move for the six-foot, six-inch monster by Foot Mercato.

Arsenal and AS Monaco are also named as clubs who are keenly watching his progress with the 2020-21 Ligue 1 champions but, crucially, no offers have been made by any party as of yet.

This is very important for Moyes and his hopes of signing the giant as he can get the Irons to the very front of the queue for his signature this summer if he’s prepared to act quickly.

West Ham need to get their foot in the door while they still can because the reputation of the other clubs in the hunt will be enough to quash their chances before they’ve arisen.

But if we go all in now and make the move, the other clubs will be left in the dust and Onana would surely be encouraged to sign on the dotted line as soon as we, and Europa Conference League football, come knocking.

He might not displace Declan Rice or Tomas Soucek from the off, if both are still here come the start of next season, but being as tall as he is, there will be some Premier League players scared to come up against such a physical specimen and that makes him the ideal substitute.

In other West Ham news, the striker position is another Moyes wants reinforcements in and he’s identified this youngster from Austria to be the man for him.
