West Ham United must move for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, he is perfect fit
West Ham are absolutely insane for not going after out-of-favour Liverpool ace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the summer transfer window.
The midfielder made only 17 Premier League appearances for the Reds throughout the 2021/22 campaign which doesn’t seem too bad but most of which were from the bench.
Having previously played a key role in Jurgen Klopp’s side, the England international looked an increasingly frustrated figure as he wasted away as a substitute as his side pushed for the quadruple at the back end of last season.
According to a Claret & Hugh report on 26 May, the Hammers lined the 28-year-old up as a cheap insurance policy should they fail to get Jesse Lingard which now looks very much to be the case.
With Yves Bissouma joining Tottenham and James Ward-Prowse reported by Claret & Hugh [17 June] to be worth a ridiculous fee of £70million, the Irons simply have to look to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain ahead of the 2022/23 season.
David Moyes’ side are looking quite vulnerable in almost every area of their squad.
Last season it was centre-back and striker that was in major crisis but next season that could quite easily be central midfield.
West Ham veteran Mark Noble has, of course, left the club and formidable duo Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek have hardly looked nailed on to stay at the club amid their ongoing contract saga.
The Hammers simply must bolster their midfield ranks and a player who has great experience winning every trophy England and Europe have to offer at the top level whilst still only being 28 is a great place to start.
Not only can he play in midfield but the former Arsenal man has flexed his versatility by operating played in the false nine and both wings for Liverpool recently.
He would be the perfect signing to help the east Londoners in their progression.
