West Ham United must make move for Lucas Ocampos, potential £59.5m discount

West Ham United have somewhat cooled their interest in Sevilla winger Lucas Ocampos but they should re-enter the race this summer.

The Irons made an enquiry about the 27-year-old back in April but the La Liga outfit were looking for up to £76.5million for the Argentine international and weren’t interested in anything less [Super Deporte].

But according to Diario De Sevilla, the Spaniards are in need of some quick cash and they could potentially now sell Ocamppos for just £17million.

That is an incredible discount of £59.5million and that kind of deal is unheard of in this day and age of football.

David Moyes might not desperately need to sign a winger with Jarrod Bowen having the best season of his career during 2021-22 which saw him earn his first England call-up and appearances this summer.

But other than the Englishman, the Scot only really has attacking midfielders to choose from with Said Benrahma, Manuel Lanzini and Pablo Fornals all being pushed to the left wing at times as he searched for the perfect formula.

So he could do with another wide man if the transfer budget allows although he has other areas to prioritise first to build a more rounded West Ham squad.

A central defender, striker and maybe two central midfielders should be the focus to start with but they might have to accelerate their efforts to sign Ocampos if other clubs start to get wind of this remarkable flash sale at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

The Hammers might have to apologise to Sevilla for knocking them out of their favourite competition (the Europa League) first before they can go ahead with a move but when a talent such as the Argentine is available for so little, you have to do what you can to make a transfer happen.

In other West Ham news, another wide player Moyes is interested in has previous with the Scot and maybe the London stadium can be the arena for his career revamp.
