West Ham United get lucky escape after Serhou Guirassy transfer development
West Ham United have dodged a bullet with Serhou Guirassy as the striker suffered problems with his Borussia Dortmund medical.
Sky Sport Germany reporter Patrik Berger reported the news on his X account (10 July), with the transfer now not certain to go through.
He relayed the information passed onto him by the German club, posting: “During a medical examination of Serhou Guirassy, an injury was discovered that requires further clarification.”
There is a chance that there will be no clarification on the situation going into next week at the least.

Julen Lopetegui has wasted no time putting his stamp on the West Ham squad and has identified a striker as priority this summer.
Deals for Wes Foderingham and Luis Guilherme were wrapped up early on and the club finally announced the signing of Max Kilman on Saturday (BBC Sport, 6 July).
Lopetegui thought he found United’s man for the attack in Guirassy but ultimately lost out to Borussia Dortmund.
The prospect of signing a 28-goal Bundesliga striker for a £15million release clause seemed too good to be true, and it turns out it was.
It could prove to be a blessing in disguise as his Dortmund move is now on hold due to problems with the medical.
With Premier League clubs beginning to return to action for pre-season, West Ham would have found themselves in an awful position had they won the race for Guirassy.
Lopetegui will need all his available first-team squad ready as he begins work on implementing his ideas on the side.
Dortmund are now in limbo waiting on the results of further medical tests to determine whether the move can be completed.
Whereas the Hammers can now move on to alternative targets and have identified Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana as one of them (AfricaFoot, 9 July).
Who would have thought that West Ham losing out on the Bundesliga’s top goal scorer would be a blessing in disguise, but it is shaping up to be that way.
