West Ham United fans in complete disbelief as Real Madrid eye Nayef Aguerd
West Ham United fans will be in disbelief as Nayef Aguerd is linked with a surprise transfer to Real Madrid.
El Gol Digital reported on its website on Tuesday [12 November] that the Spanish giants are monitoring the 28-year-old as they “urgently” look for a new centre-back.
Florentino Perez has asked Madrid CEO Jose Angel Sanchez to enquire about Aguerd ahead of a potential transfer, with the Irons’ £25million-plus asking price within the club’s reach.

This will come as a surprise to West Ham fans as it was less than three months ago when the club sent out Aguerd on loan to Real Sociedad in Spain.
The Hammers signed the central defender from Rennes for £30million in 2022 [BBC], but sanctioned a temporary transfer after his performances for the East London outfit left much to be desired.
It appears Aguerd took the snub personally as he has been in fine form for Sociedad, particularly impressing in their 1-0 win against Barcelona on Sunday, 11 November.
Julen Lopetegui’s side could soon regret sending Aguerd away, especially as summer signing Jean-Clair Todibo has not met expectations so far.

Looking at the brighter side of things, the Irons could recoup £25million of the £30million they spent on Aguerd two years ago.
If Real Madrid sign him in January, Tim Steidten could use that sum to reinvest in the squad as the club look to improve on an underwhelming start to the season.
In other West Ham news, Lopetegui has put in a request for this Premier League star to be signed.
