West Ham United may land the ideal replacement option for Nayef Aguerd in Odilon Kossounou from Bayer Leverkusen if Tim Steidten can finally pull off a transfer.
The Hammers have struggled so far ahead of the summer window with several moves appearing to fall through at the final hurdle.
Brazilian talents Fabricio Bruno and Wesley Gassova have both turned Steidten down with other options like Luis Guilherme being consdiered.
The desire to bring new players into Julen Lopetegui’s squad early has come with the news that plenty of stars want a move away from the London Stadium.
Aguerd could be ready for a move to Atletico Madrid [The Sun, 2 June] which would leave a void in central defence which will need filling.
This has seen Steidten take a look at a defender who has just played his role in one of the best-achieving sides in recent history.
West Ham could replace Nayef Ageurd with Odilon Kossounou
The Atlhetic reported that the Hammers are eying Kossounou as an alternative if they aren’t to land Bruno from Flamengo this summer.
There is still said to be a chance that the Brazilian will make the move to the London Stadium this summer but with Saudi Arabian interest, it could now be unlikely.
Now a move for the Bayer Leverkusen star could be an option that is considered by Lopetegui and Co. as a replacement for Aguerd.
The Ivorian has played a role as Leverkusen went the whole domestic season unbeaten, losing in just the Europa League final all season.
With that being said, it may be a difficult task to take any players out of the club this summer but Kossounou could be one that wants more regular football.

He made just 21 starts under Xabi Alonso in the Bundesliga [FotMob] and could be tempted by a regular starting role in the Premier League.
With Aguerd leaving, his ability on the ball will be missed and with the Leverkusen man potentially available he could be the ideal replacement after the style of play in Germany.
