West Ham United close in on new PSR solution as late Kurt Zouma exit update emerges
With just a couple of days left in the summer transfer window, West Ham United and Julen Lopetegui’s focus will be primarily on outgoings.
The Hammers have managed to get most of their incoming business done and dusted early on, but they do still have to trim their wage bill before the window comes to an end on the 30 August.
Although Tim Steidten and his time have not recruited recklessly, there is a feeling that one or two departures will be required to keep the Irons from breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.
Reports earlier this summer suggested that the Irons could face “immediate” financial fair play concerns this season after Kurt Zouma saw a move to UAE side Shabab Al-Ahli collapse at the last minute [The Times, 15 August].
Will Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd exit West Ham ahead of the transfer deadline at the London Stadium?
However, the Irons appear to have done enough to ease those fears slightly after new updates emerged surrounding both Zouma and fellow West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd.
According to reports, Zouma has passed a medical with Al-Orobah ahead of his move to the Saudi Pro League side which will be an initial loan deal with an obligation to make it permanent in the future [Yallakora, 27 August].
On top of that, Porto are understood to be keen on signing Aguerd before the window slams shut and the Algerian international is believed to be open to a last-ditch move away from East London [Santi Aouna, 28 August].

While neither player’s exit is likely to see a massive fee arrive at the London Stadium, their departures will go a long way to helping West Ham’s financial position and therefore alleviate their PSR concerns to a degree.
Neither player would have been on small wages and following the arrivals of Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo they have almost become surplus to requirements under Lopetegui.
Hopefully, both deals can be completed before the window closes so that their futures and the Irons PSR worries can be put to bed as the Hammers kill two birds with one stone.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers have been praised for a smart decision surrounding Max Kilman during the summer transfer window
