West Ham United: £34m Perr Schuurs transfer could reignite after Fabrizio Romano update
West Ham could reignite their interest in Torino centre-back Perr Shuurs after Fabrizio Romano reported that previously interested clubs could return with deals this summer.
Romano shared via his X account on 28 February that, following his recovery from an ACL injury, several clubs remain keen on signing him despite that long-term injury.
Schuurs, who was also a target for both Liverpool and Crystal Palace during the summer transfer window, was reportedly given a price tag of £34million by Torino before his injury.
West Ham could return with a big-money transfer bid
Given the Hammers’ defensive struggles this season, despite the arrival of Konstantinos Mavropanos in the summer after any bid for Schuurs was scuppered by his long-term injury, they could return with a fresh bid for the Dutchman.
Kurt Zouma has been inconsistent, Nayef Aguerd has been linked to an exit, and Angelo Ogbonna is too old to play any regular minutes, so making a move for a 24-year-old, highly-rated defender would make sense.
Schuurs is a confident ball-playing defender, as impressive in possession as he is out of it, with his ability on the ball a key part of his playing style which would prove beneficial at the London Stadium.
Given the continued uncertainty surrounding the future of David Moyes, any new signings could end up playing under a new manager, and Schuurs would fit the expansive style of play the fans have been demanding at the London Stadium.
