West Ham signing Luca Pellegrini will be perfect long-term replacement of Aaron Cresswell
West Ham are in close contact with Juventus for the signing of Luca Pellegrini, according to Gazetta Dello Sport’s print edition on June 19.
The reports suggest that the 23-year-old wants to leave Turin this summer and wants to hit the next gear in his professional career by becoming a first-teamer.
The Italian fullback has also gained interest from newly-promoted side Fulham this summer for his services.
His agent Vincenzo Raiola is looking at all the potential bids coming in and the Premier League switch can be considered a likely destination.
Pellegrini is an extremely versatile footballer and Max Allegri has used him in different roles within his side.
Even though his preference is to start as a left-back, he can also play as a left midfielder based on his defensive attributes.
In the recently concluded season with the Old Lady, Pellegrini made 18 Serie A appearances and provided one assist. He averaged 1.3 tackles, 0.3 interceptions, and 0.9 clearances in the 2021-22 Serie A season [Whoscored].
The signing of Pellegrini will bring competition in the left-back slot for West Ham as They cannot afford to go in four different competitions with one recognized player in a certain role.
At this stage, the only establish left-back at the London Stadium is Aaron Cresswell and considering the difference in both of their ages, it will only be a matter of time before Pellegrini leapfrogs the former Ipswich town man in the left-back position.
