West Ham must act fast to sign Youssef En-Nesyri amid Tottenham transfer development

West Ham face competition from one of their fiercest rivals for the signature of Youssef En-Nesyri.

It has been a mixed start to the transfer window for the Hammers.

They missed out on Fabricio Bruno’s signature although a deal looked to be agreed.

However, Graeme Bailey did reveal via X (4 June) that West Ham are closing in on the signing of Palmeiras forward Luis Guilherme.

Another player who has been linked with a move to the London Stadium is Sevilla striker En-Nesyri.

As per the print edition of Diario AS (page 38, 2 June), Julen Lopetegui’s side are “in the spotlight” to sign the exit-bound En-Nesyri.

However, Tottenham have now entered the race for the 28-year-old’s signature.

According to Radio Sevilla’s Santi Ortega (via Carrusel Deportivo via X, 3 June) Spurs are pushing to sign the Morrocco international.

And Tim Steidten would be wise to act fast to sign En-Nesyri.

West Ham United can make a statement by signing Youssef En-Nesyri ahead of Tottenham

The Hammers do have one key advantage over Spurs in the race for En-Nesyri.

Lopetegui’s previous relationship with the player.

If the ex-Sevilla boss can convince his former striker to join him in East London, it would be a real statement of intent.

Both clubs need a number nine, a role which En-Nesyri could fill.

But considering the way West Ham’s transfer window has started, this particular signing is perhaps more important to the Hammers.

There is already some scepticism around Lopetegui and Stediten, but signing En-Nesyri could make that all go away.

Youssef En-Nesyri has been linked with West Ham and Tottenham.

Beating the club’s fiercest rivals to an exciting Euro forward would certainly get the supporters on side.

In other West Ham news, the club have agreed a £25.5million deal to sign an Atletico Madrid player.
