West Ham-linked Charles De Ketelaere priced at £33million by Club Brugge
West Ham seem to have been given a boost in their interest as Belgian side Club Brugge have put a price tag on the 20-year-old attacker Charles De Ketelaere.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, Brugge are set to ask for £33million for the highly-rated attacking midfielder with sides in Italy also in the running for the Belgian.
West Ham’s interest, initially reported by Calcio Mercato this season, in the attacker has dampened over recent weeks with attentions turning to the defence rather than attack,
At six foot three inches tall, De Ketelaere should have no issues transitioning to the physical aspect of Premier League football should he make a move to the London Stadium.
But with injuries wreaking havoc on the Hammers’ defence, David Moyes would be excused for spending his January budget on the backline as his current attackers shine.
Only Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool have scored more goals than Moyes’ side in the Premier League this season with 37 strikes finding the target in 20 games.
Defensively though, the Hammers have seen their own net bulge 27 times which is more than 18th-placed Burnley.
The issues are obvious then and De Ketelaere would do little to solve the defensive issues underlying at the London Stadium.
He is, however, an exceptional talent and the defensive frailties could be overlooked for half a season if they want to acquire De Ketelaere’s services.
Napoli and AC Milan are the two contending clubs from Italy and both are trying to chase down Inter Milan for the Serie A title this season.
While both Italian clubs are probably ahead of where West Ham are right now, everything is pointing the Hammers in the right direction and if they can keep the forward momentum going, they could be a more attractive long term option for the Belgian.
In other West Ham news, there is interest in this Aston Villa winger who could be available for cheap.
