West Ham: David Sullivan unpopular again as David Moyes sack decision made

West Ham fans could turn on David Sullivan as he appears to have made a sack decision on the under-performing David Moyes.

Moyes confirmed that the club had handed him a new contract and he’ll decide at the end of the season if he wants to sign it.

This comes in the midst of a tumultuous run of form that has seen the club even prepare a shortlist for his replacement and considered hiring Oliver Glasner as well.

Moyes said on 23 February: “I’ve had really good conversations with the owners, with David Sullivan and Karren Brady.

“There’s a contract there for me and I’m the one deciding I want to wait until the end of the season.”

Sullivan making poor decisions at West Ham United again

Offering Moyes a new contract amidst West Ham’s dismal performance is perplexing and reflects poorly on the club’s management.

With the team enduring an eight-game winless streak and teetering on the edge of the bottom half of the Premier League table, it’s irrational to extend the Scotsman’ tenure without tangible improvement.

Fans, already disheartened by the team’s lacklustre displays, may further turn on David Sullivan for this decision, seeing it as a lack of accountability and ambition.

By leaving the decision in Moyes’ hands, Sullivan risks alienating the fanbase and exacerbating the already strained relationship between the club’s hierarchy and supporters.

Moyes must not be deciding his own future

The manager must demonstrate his worthiness for a new contract by orchestrating a turnaround in results and salvaging the remainder of the season.

If he fails to do so, refusing to sign the contract extension would be a prudent move, showing integrity and acknowledging the need for accountability in football management.
