West Ham could land Mohammed Kudus upgrade after Man United twist

West Ham United could send shockwaves through the Premier League by selling Mohammed Kudus and swiftly bringing in a replacement.

The 24-year-old could be on his way out of the London Stadium after Alex Crook reported via talkSPORT on Tuesday [17 December] that the Hammers would accept a “big money” offer for the forward, with Arsenal preparing to test the waters in January.

While the West Ham faithful would riot if David Sullivan sanctioned a departure midway through the season, with the side lingering seven points above the relegation zone, a potential Premier League replacement would whet the supporters’ appetite.

West Ham United could replace Mohammed Kudus with Marcus Rashford

David Moyes was a “big admirer” of Marcus Rashford during his time in East London, and amid reports the 27-year-old is eager to leave Manchester United in pursuit of a fresh challenge [The Guardian, 18 December], that challenge could await at the London Stadium.

A potential deal to bring Rashford to West Ham may appear impossible on the face of it, amid links to Paris Saint-Germain among others, but it could be possible with the proper financial manoeuvring.

According to Stefan Borson [18 December], as things stand, the Hammers are one of the Top 20 Deloitte teams who cannot afford a deal for Rashford.

The England international is believed to be earning £350,000-a-week at Old Trafford, and after only 10 goal contributions in 24 appearances across all competitions this term, no side in Europe in their right mind would match those wage demands.

Therefore, with a cut-price fee of £40million touted and a significant wage cut, West Ham could profit in a transfer merry-go-round wherein Rashford arrives in East London and Kudus is sold.

Arsenal, Liverpool, and Newcastle United are preparing offers for the Ghanaian international ahead of the January transfer window.

The Hammers are looking to recoup a fee as close to his £85m release clause, which will be activated in the summer.

Rashford, at one point, was expected to reach the greatest heights when breaking onto the scene in Manchester – his career has not gone as planned, but the quality is still there.

Should he replicate his 30-goal form shown in the 2022/23 season at the London Stadium, and the Hammers profit from the deal, Sullivan would be lauded.

There are plenty of ifs and buts, of course, but if Kudus does go in January then it will certainly make a lot more sense.
