View: West Ham need to sign Burnley keeper Nick Pope as cheaper price reported

West Ham need to sign Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope as they hunt for a replacement goalkeeper for Lukasz Fabianski for next season, according to Daily Mail.

The 37-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season having extended his deal by one year in 2021 and the Claret’s keeper would be a perfect replacement.

Alphonse Areola’s Irons future also remains uncertain as the on-loan French shot-stopper receives interest from Fulham.

Therefore, David Moyes is hopeful of signing the England international for a cheaper price than the PSG ace with Burnley looking likely to be relegated from the Premier League this season.

No brainer

West Ham are actually spoilt for choice for once. Both of these options are very good and would do wonderfully in this squad.

Areola has the slight edge because he has already established himself as part of this team and the fans love him after his Europa League heroics this season.

He is tried and tested which makes him a very low risk move but with Fulham also keen on signing the France international, the decision could be out of the Hammers’ hands.

On the other hand, Pope boasts excellent Premier League experience having been a stalwart in the Burnley team for the best part of a decade with his impressive form earning England call ups along the way.

The Irons should go for both. With Fabianski out of contract in the summer and likely on his way out, they could really do with them both.

They could push each other for the number one spot which would undoubtedly do wonders for their performance levels whilst ensuring the Hammers are safe between the sticks for the next few years at least.
