View: West Ham can secure major coup after owner comments on Boubacar Kamara

West Ham have the chance to pull off a major coup this month by signing Boubacar Kamara after his manager revealed his could leave this month.

The French midfielder has entered the final six months of his contract with the Ligue 1 club and has been linked with a host of top clubs including West Ham, Manchester United and Roma [Calciomercato].

But Marseille owner Pablo Longoria has admitted that the doors are open for a potential transfer this month, and that could give West Ham the chance to get a march on their rivals for his signature.

“For Bouba we discussed a lot,” he said [TuttoMercatoWeb].

“There is mutual respect, we sat down and today anything can happen, as long as all the parties involved are satisfied. Respect is important, we will see what happens. It is not pleasant to have a player at the end of the contract “

Kamara is a top young talent and there is a reason he has attracted the interest of some of the top teams in Europe.

But West Ham have the added bonus that they are capable of offering a sum of money to get him this month, and give him regular first-team football.

Both Declan Rice and Thomas Soucek have been at their best when allowed to burst forward from midfield, but they tend to have to alternate that with one sitting.

The arrival of Kamara would allow a midfield three where they can both bomb on and also remain solid defensively. With their defensive options taking a hit this season, added defensive cover in midfield is an achievable alternative.

It would also show some of the top players at the club such as Rice and Jarrod Bowen that the Hammers can look to push on in the coming seasons and compete with the top teams, and that they don’t need to leave to achieve success.

Kamara would be available for a minimal fee and if personal terms could be agreed, which could be tough considering his reported £150k p/w demands [Express Sport], then they would have a top young talent added to their squad.
