View: Lingard will regret snubbing West Ham after Manchester United scandal

Jesse Lingard will be wishing he joined West Ham as tensions rise between him and Manchester United.

Ralf Rangnick claimed the England international requested time off to ‘clear his mind’ after the Reds blocked his move away from the club in the January transfer window [Daily Mail].

Lingard has since denied these allegations on Twitter, saying he is completely committed to United.

West Ham

He shared on his personal Twitter account: “The club advised me to have time off due to personal reasons!

“But my headspace is clear and I’ll always be professional when called upon and give 100 percent”

This isn’t the only unsettling thing surrounding the scandal. Rangnick claimed that the 29-year-old wanted to stay at United before moves to West Ham and Newcastle respectively fell through, much to Lingard’s surprise.

Grass isn’t greener

West Ham could have really done with Lingard in January and should still make a move for the attacking midfielder in the summer when his contract expires at Old Trafford.

He was great during his spell at the London Stadium scoring nine Premier League goals during his short spell.

It is very sad to see what is happening between him and United. The Reds didn’t want to offload a player to their rivals which would have given the Hammers a huge boost in their Champions League push – which is understandable.

That is something that both parties can put to one side as professionals but with lies now circulating the camp and the increasingly embarrassing situation going public, it isn’t going to end well for either party.

This might be a form of karma for the United midfielder. He was loved at West Ham and was playing the best football he has in years whilst at the club. He built a brilliant relationship with the fans and players alike but chose to snub a permanent move to the Irons last summer.

He should have really taken that deal rather than drooling over playing with Ronaldo, something he has barely done in just 273 minutes of football all season.
