View: David Moyes can’t play West Ham ace Declan Rice in defence
David Moyes simply can’t afford to play West Ham midfielder Declan Rice in defence as he looks for a solution to the Hammers’ defensive crisis.
Issa Diop could be out for the rest of the season after suffering a “serious” ankle injury, according to ExWHUemployee.
The Irons’ centre-back options are now a serious problem with Diop already deputising for injured Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna not ready for action following his long-term injury that kept him sidelined for the majority of the season.

Craig Dawson remains the only fit senior central defender in the squad therefore Moyes might have to play one or two players out of position to plug the gap.
No chance
One man who can not be moved from his preferred position at any cost is Rice.
He started his West Ham career as a centre-back and has played there many times as a player but that was long, long before he got this good.
Nowadays, he is instrumental to the way the east Londoners play and playing him in defence would be horrible to watch.

The 23-year-old is far too important to the way that the Hammers play. He continuously gets the team on the front foot by driving forward with the ball, finding the attackers with excellent passes whilst playing on the front foot.
Without him doing that, the team would massively struggle. The England international might be one of the strongest options back there but he is far too crucial to the way the Irons play to be sacrificed.
Tomas Soucek is massively important to the midfield too but he would certainly be the lesser of two evils. Hopefully, Moyes can find a defender to fill the hole.
