Tony Cottee has lost his mind after latest West Ham United transfer plea

Tony Cottee has absolutely lost his mind after he urged West Ham to sign Everton defender Michael Keane in the summer transfer window.

David Moyes’ squad is in desperate need of attention as the Hammers kick it up a notch in Europe.

This season has seen their squad stretched with the enormous amount of fixtures they have played.

The Irons’ squad is nowhere near strong enough for what it has been tasked with this season but Cottee encouraging the east Londoners to sign Keane is ludicrous.

He told Metro: “West Ham needs to sign players like [Jesse] Lingard, like Michael Keane.

“Players like that, good English players, coming and buying into what David Moyes got going on and want to be a part of the squad and that good team spirit they’ve got there.”

No chance.

There is absolutely no way that the Blues defender is anywhere near good enough to come in and improve things at the London Stadium.

The former Burnley ace isn’t even good enough to fill in at centre-back and signing him wouldn’t progress West Ham in any way.

Keane would be the last pick of all of the centre-backs currently in the squad and even if he did get the opportunity to play – the fans would be all but convinced.

Everton fans have had enough of the 29-year-old his form has been that bad this season. If they want to get rid of him as they look to survive in the Premier League, a team who is pushing for Champions League football shouldn’t be anywhere near the defender.

The Hammers need younger more ambitious players that are going to come in and take this team to the next level and Keane is the opposite of that.

In other West Ham news, Moyes is assessing his squad as he wants the “final say” on transfers according to reports by Sky Sports.
