Teddy Sheringham has lost mind with West Ham-Tottenham transfer view

Teddy Sheringham has lost his mind after he urged Tottenham Hotspur to sign West Ham United star man Declan Rice in the summer transfer window.

The England international’s London Stadium future has been under a microscope with his contract expiring after the 2022/23 season after turning down multiple new contract offers from the Irons.

Despite the 23-year-old seemingly staying with David Moyes and co next season, the England legend has told Spurs to make a “statement” by signing Rice.

“I don’t think he’s [Richarlison] what is needed now,” he told said as per Lord Ping

He added: “If you’re going to make a statement, and West Ham fans won’t like me for this, then go and get Declan Rice. He is an unbelievable player. And he’s good for the next eight years. He’s the man to take us to the next level.

“If you’re going to make a statement, and West Ham fans won’t like me for this, then go and get Declan Rice. He is an unbelievable player. And he’s good for the next eight years. He’s the man to take us to the next level.

“These big players don’t come around very often, but signing him would make a statement because he is immense every time he plays. He would make a statement to say we’re going places, and that’s what you want.”

Laughable.

This is absolute comedy gold. First of all, Tottenham can’t afford a player of the calibre of Rice.

They are one of the tightest teams in the league under Daniel Levy and the midfielder would cost them an absolute fortune.

Secondly, why on earth would the Hammers skipper want to make the move across London to play for the team he loves bitter rivals?

Rice is a West Ham boy through and through and he would most likely sooner retire than play for that car crash of a club – especially when he has the pick of all the teams in world football.

This is all before the fact that the Irons simply won’t do business with Spurs – that is an unwritten rule in east London.

Sheringham needs to have a long hard look at himself because nobody in the right mind would think that deal to be on the cards.
