Summerville could push for West Ham United exit after transfer news emerges
Crysencio Summerville will be feeling like there is no way back for him at West Ham United.
The 22-year-old has caught the eye with his work rate when called upon in East London, and yet Julen Lopetegui continues to exclude the summer signing from the first-team fold, much to the bewilderment of onlookers.
And now, Summerville is expected to be pushed further behind in the pecking order at the London Stadium, with West Ham preparing to trigger the £50million release clause of Real Sociedad forward Brais Mendez [AS].
On that basis, the Dutchman may be considering whether he made the right choice moving to the London Stadium – much like team-mate Niclas Fullkrug, who is also tipped to leave.
Crysencio Summerville will regret signing for West Ham United
Summerville put pen to paper on a five-year deal in East London on 3 August, after a £20m deal was struck with Leeds United for his signature [Fabrizio Romano].
Fast forward nearly five months later, and the 2023/24 Championship Player of the Year has featured 17 times for West Ham with only a handful of starts.
Summerville can be forgiven for hoping his playing time would increase in the second half of the campaign after Manchester City declared Mohammed Kudus a priority transfer target [Fichajes].
However, instead of investing much-needed game time into his talented young star, Lopetegui is supposedly preparing to reinvest the potential big-money fee from Kudus into his squad.
West Ham believed they acquired one of the most promising talents in English football, but instead, his talents have been wasted away in the dugout.

Considering the extensive outlay on signings spent by Tim Steidten throughout the summer and the Irons’ European aspirations shelved for the season, it would be more beneficial for Lopetegui to place his faith in the forward.
Summerville had options to leave Leeds for Liverpool or Chelsea and was convinced to sign for the Hammers – if he was willing to spend a year honing his talents, he could have joined either side and learned his trade from some of the best footballers in the world, or simply stayed at Leeds.
Should West Ham proceed with a move for Mendez, Summerville will have his answer and should push hard to leave East London. He cannot be blamed for doing so.
