Said Benrahma is finished, he’s played final West Ham United match after disgraceful scenes

Said Benrahma has surely played his last ever game for West Ham after the disgraceful scenes which saw him sent off for kicking out at Joe Williams in the 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Bristol City.

His sending-off was a crushing blow to the Hammers’ chance of progressing in the tournament, and such a petulant moment from someone who is supposed to be a senior player will not have gone down well with David Moyes.

The winger has been heavily linked with a move away from the London Stadium, with FootMercato journalist Santi Aouna reporting interest from Brentford, Wolves and Lyon, and after that performance, there can’t be much clamour to keep him.

BBC commentator Jonathan Pearce slammed the Algerian live during the coverage of the game, stating: “It was right in front of the assistant referee, no more than eight feet away and the red is coming. What a rotten season he is having.”

The report from Aouna also states that the Hammers had turned down a loan-to-buy offer from Lyon for Benrahma, but given the level of interest in him this January, it would not be a surprise to see another bid made in the coming days.

It had previously been suggested that the Hammers would look to keep hold of Benrahma if no replacement were incoming, given the injury situation with Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio, but after what he did last night, he should be shown the door.

It’s difficult to understand the stupidity behind kicking out so blatantly at a player. The red mist had obviously descended, but it was a vile decision by the Algerian and one that should see him thrown out.

West Ham

Interest from Wolves and Brentford remains, with Fulham having been linked earlier in the window, but if any of the three Premier League clubs make a move for him, they will now have to contend with a three-game suspension as a result of his petulance.

In other West Ham news, a major Jarrod Bowen update has dropped at the London Stadium.
