Rio Ferdinand has burned his bridges after his latest comments on Declan Rice

Rio Ferdinand claims to have a lot of affection for West Ham and did play for the club for a little bit when he was younger.

However, as a pundit, he has said some odd things about the Hammers, and his latest claim might just have burned his bridges with the Irons.

Speaking on the latest edition of his YouTube show Vibe with Five, the former Manchester United defender claimed that Newcastle United should try and sign Declan Rice.

The Toon have just recently been taken over and are now the richest club in the world, and Ferdinand wasted no time telling them to buy the Irons’ best player.

This feels like a poor choice of words, and we can’t imagine that it will go down too well with many Irons fans who must be fed up of hearing stuff about Rice.

Earlier this year, he told the Red Devils to go out and buy the England international [Vibe with Five].

This is all the odder, given that Ferdinand was a public backer for PAI Capital’s attempted takeover of the Hammers this year [BBC].

So, why would he be part of a takeover to hopefully improve the club and want the club to sell their best player to either Manchester United or Newcastle?

This was an unwise move, and we feel as if he has now probably burned his last remaining bridges with the Irons as he seems obsessed with getting someone else to sign Rice, which is pretty odd.

In other West Ham news, the Irons have been handed a potential transfer boost for the January transfer window.
