Nikola Vlasic gets West Ham United incognito treatment after World Cup display

West Ham, like other clubs, are sending wishes to their players and sharing updates on their performances at the World Cup in Qatar.

On Sunday (27 November), the Hammers’ official Twitter handle shared posts on Thilo Kehrer and Nayef Aguerd – the two players who participated for Germany and Morocco respectively.

However, it came as a big surprise to many that the club failed to share any tweet on Nikola Vlasic who featured for Croatia as they won 4-1 against Canada. He played the last 18 minutes of the game.

Vlasic is currently on loan with Italian outfit Torino, but he is still a West Ham-owned player. It seems like the Hammers have criminally ignored his presence.

Representing the country at the World Cup is a matter of great pride. It is not only a great pride for the player but the club as well who he plays for.

This is probably another indication that the attacking midfielder doesn’t have any future at the club under David Moyes, and he will be sold permanently to Torino at some point.

Calciomercato reported on 2 November that the Italian side have been impressed with him and they are close to triggering a deal to sign him permanently.

It will take a fee of around £12.8 million to sign him permanently (a deal that doesn’t make any sense) and it will give the Hammers the much-needed cash to strengthen in other areas.

His signing is one of the most baffling West Ham transfers in recent memory, and one can’t help but wonder why the club signed him in the first place.

The Croatian is a fantastic midfielder, and he is proving his class in Serie A. However, he struggled in the Premier League and failed to make any impact.

He barely featured under Moyes and the club is now ready to sell him for a loss. Many thought that he would be given a fresh chance in the summer, but Moyes had other plans.

Irrespective of what the future holds for the player, it is really not fair to forget about someone completely who is still contracted with the club.
