Lyon signing Tete is unfair on West Ham ahead of Europa League tie
West Ham might have been put on the back foot for their Europa League quarter-final tie against Lyon after the French club made a signing.
Despite the transfer window being firmly shut, UEFA and FIFA have made a special dispensation for players from Ukrainian and Russian clubs to leave on loan for the rest of the season due to the war ongoing between the two nations.
Lyon have taken full advantage of this by signing Brazilian winger Tete from Shakhtar Donetsk yesterday until the end of the season, announced on their website.

That isn’t what West Ham fans will be upset about as those in the war-torn countries need to escape any way they can and continue their career but there is one thing that will grind their gears.
The 22-year-old has been allowed to be registered for the Europa League as well as Ligue 1 and the French Cup but he should only be playing in the domestic competitions in the interest of fairness.
Premier League clubs have been stopped from signing any players from the affected countries so the Hammers haven’t been able to strengthen like Lyon have.
Especially considering Tete has already played in the competition for Shakhtar, and that the registration deadline was in February, it seems to be very unfair against the Irons.

Peter Bosz will have the Brazilian at his disposal against the Hammers though and David Moyes will have to pick his team up from off the canvas and be prepared to come out swinging again in the face of UEFA.
Even with Tete’s addition, West Ham should have the ability and temperament to beat the French side but they need to turn up on the night to avoid a sad exit from the competition.
In other West Ham news, Manuel Lanzini has taken to Instagram to address his scary car crash on his way to training yesterday.
