Graham Potter ‘to make Carragher look ridiculous’ over Arsenal and West Ham comment
Graham Potter’s West Ham United side have an opportunity to flip comments made by Jamie Carragher on their head when they face Arsenal.
West Ham head to Emirates Stadium on Saturday in hugely contrasting form to high-flying Arsenal, sitting at a season low of 16th in the Premier League table and 14 places behind the Gunners.
Potter has overseen just one win in six since taking the reins at the London Stadium, and comes up against an Arsenal side unbeaten in the league since November, and who’ve won their last three straight.
As a result, few will be backing Potter’s Irons to take anything other than a hammering in North London on Saturday, but Jamie Carragher has reckoned without one key statistic in his prediction for the match.

Jamie Carragher gives West Ham no chance v Arsenal
In his latest round of predictions for Sky Sports’ Super 6 (21 February), Carragher didn’t fancy West Ham’s chances of coming away from the Emirates with any points, predicting a 2-0 defeat for the Irons.
Arguing that the Hammers’ attack wouldn’t be able to break down Arsenal‘s potentially refreshed defence, he also suggested that securing the victory would be an easy ride for the Gunners.
Carragher said: “Arsenal will be too strong defensively to offer West Ham any encouragement and will win comfortably enough at the Emirates.”

Carragher forgets Graham Potter factor in West Ham prediction
Although Arsenal have already thumped the Irons this season, recording a 5-2 victory at the London Stadium in November, the West Ham created by Julen Lopetegui is thankfully a thing of the past.
That 5-2 hammering proved to only be the joint second-biggest defeat inflicted on West Ham during the Spaniard’s 22-game tenure, also suffering a 5-0 thumping by Liverpool in his penultimate match.
Potter, however, is very different to Lopetegui, and although West Ham are hardly setting the world alight with their recent form, history suggests that he could be just the manager to topple the Gunners.

Potter has won three of his four meetings with Arsenal at the Emirates. According to Opta, only Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp, with six and eight victories respectively, have won there more often.
As a visiting manager, therefore, Potter’s record is a strong one against the Gunners, with his 75 per cent win rate the highest of any away manager to have taken charge of at least three games at the Emirates.
That sets up an intriguing fixture for West Ham, and though Potter is still lumbered with a squad bizarrely assembled by Tim Steidten last summer, he has a chance to make Carragher’s prediction look ridiculous.
