Graham Potter must make ‘Nayef Aguerd u-turn at West Ham’ after what’s happened
Graham Potter has a decision to make over the future of Nayef Aguerd at West Ham after what he has done at Real Sociedad.
The Hammers have had a positive start to life under the English head coach but limited changes were made during the winter.
Evan Ferguson was the only addition in the latest window leaving the defence as it looked after the conclusion of the summer market.
Looking ahead to the end of the season, Potter will take a look at his squad and may choose to utilise players who are out on loan right now.
Graham Potter could utilise Nayef Aguerd at West Ham
The former Brighton boss has already moved to recall those out on temporary deals away from the London Stadium.
This has seen James Ward-Prowse return from Nottingham Forest and although the same wasn’t done with Aguerd in January, he could still return to play next season.
The Morocco international has been superb since joining Real Sociedad during the summer, forming a key part of the La Liga outfit’s back line.
The 28-year-old has featured 16 times in San Sebastian, contributing as his side have conceded just 19 league goals at this stage of the season.
As a result, the former Rennes star could be of great use in East London especially with Potter often utilising a back three formation.
A recall option is now unlikely or potentially impossible and as a result, assessing options for the defender in the summer appears to be a realistic option.
Nayef Aguerd could return to West Ham this summer
Given that there are only three recognised centre-backs available in East London right now, a new option wouldn’t go amiss.
Aguerd could prove to be a useful addition to the squad or even as a potential replacement for Konstantinos Mavropanos or Jean-Clair Todibo.
The Greece international has come under fire at points in his Hammers career and potentially represents a sellable asset to provide funds for further transfers.

It will be interesting to see if the Moroccan returns to play and then how Potter utilises him considering how positive his spell at Real Sociedad has been.
