Fabianski ‘looks finished at West Ham’ after Potter’s Rush Green decision

Lukasz Fabianski could be done at West Ham after Graham Potter made a decision about training at Rush Green.

The Poland international has made 16 appearances for the Hammers this campaign, filling in for an underperforming Alphonse Areola.

Despite only keeping two clean sheets, the 39-year-old has made multiple key saves and has maintained his status as a well-respected figure at the London Stadium.

With that being said, his time in East London could be winding down after Graham Potter introduced a new youngster into training.

Lanre Awesu joins West Ham first-team training

The English head coach has always shown his application and has been willing to hand young players a chance to impress.

This has already been the case in his short spell in charge with both Lewis Orford and Oliver Scarles being handed Premier League minutes in recent weeks.

Now the 49-year-old has brought Lanre Awesu into senior training at Rush Green despite only signing a full-time scholarship contract in July 2024.

The 17-year-old is now taking part in sessions alongside Areola and Fabianski which is likely to be excellent for his development in East London.

If the young shot-stopper can impress Potter and show the talent that the Irons believe he has, he could prove to be a third or second-choice keeper in no time.

This could ultimately prove to be the final straw for Fabianski who may be on his way out of the London Stadium at the end of the season.

Lukasz Fabianksi could be replaced by Lanre Awesu at West Ham

The Pole has been an excellent servant for the Hammers since signing from Swansea City in 2018 but is approaching the end of his lengthy career.

As a result, bringing through a teenage goalkeeper and giving him the opportunity to learn from the ex-Arsenal ace can only be a good thing right now.

This will give Areola the confidence that he needs to be the out-right number one as he clearly has the ability to be an excellent keeper.

The Frenchman proved exactly that with his save against Chelsea, despite falling to a frustrating defeat.

Bringing Awesu in as a backup option to the former PSG man proves exactly what vision Potter has for the Irons and that can only be a positive for the future.
