David Sullivan will tank West Ham United season ticket sales as new manager update emerges
David Sullivan runs the risk of diminished season ticket sales at the London Stadium next season as West Ham near a deal with Julen Lopetegui to replace David Moyes.
Moyes has been under considerable pressure this season, with his defensive style of football heavily criticised among several poor results in the Premier League and domestic competitions.
According to The Guardian [3 May], the Hammers are closing in on a deal to appoint former Wolves manager Lopetegui as the new West Ham manager, a deal that could be done as soon as next week.
This news has been greeted by a mixed reaction, with some praising his win record across his managerial career, while others have not taken the update so well.
Some fans have gone as far as to sign a petition, via Change.org, named ‘West Ham say no to Lopetegui’ which already has over 1,000 signatures and could grow as speculation circles.
West Ham United risk drop in ticket sales with Lopetegui update
While fans have been critical of Moyes this season, it appears that many would prefer to keep him at the helm rather than appoint Lopetegui ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Though the former Real Madrid manager has previous experience in the Premier League with Wolves, he only lasted 10 months at Molineux Stadium and has been out of work since August 2023.
Ruben Amorim is another name that has been mentioned as a potential replacement, a young manager in charge at Sporting CP, though West Ham may have to pay a £10million fee for him.
Understandably, Hammers fans are cautious about which manager is brought into the club.

They learned the hard way that the grass is not always greener on the other side after Moyes was replaced by Manuel Pellegrini during his first spell in charge.
What is clear is that Sullivan certainly risks losing some of his club’s most beloved fans if he chooses to go ahead with the appointment of Lopetegui.
In other West Ham news, Lucas Paqueta could find himself in a transfer battle to depart the club.
