David Sullivan must seal multi-million windfall on Maxwel Cornet after West Ham United exit development, he needs to quit
Maxwel Cornet could look to end his West Ham United nightmare in January and the club must aid his wish by sealing a healthy financial windfall for his services.
When Cornet arrived from Burnley in August 2022 for a fee Sky Sports reported to be worth £17.5million it seemed a reasonable piece of business for a player who had lit up Turf Moor.
However, due to a severe calf injury – keeping him out of the side for five months – the Ivorian international has never really gotten his career in East London going since then, going on to make 28 West Ham appearances with no goals and six assists [Transfermarkt].

The 27-year-old appeared to be on his way out of East London in the summer transfer window but stayed put as a move to Everton fell through due to concerns over his injury record.
He does have a League Cup start and four starts in the Europa League, but frankly, it is becoming glaringly obvious he is now a dispensable member of David Moyes’ squad.
As a result, the former Burnley man is now reportedly attracting interest elsewhere with news around his future also now heating up.
Turkish newspaper Takvim reported online (11 December) that Fenerbache are looking for reinforcements at centre-back and on the wings in the transfer window, and that Cornet’s representatives had been in talks.
Also, reliable West Ham United journalists Claret & Hugh reported on 8 December that both Cornet and striker Michail Antonio are now seen as “cash-raising” players ahead of the January transfer window certainly suggesting that the Hammers are open to offers.

The Hammers have desperately needed an out-an-out winger to balance their play with Jarrod Bowen on the right flank, but Moyes seems to prefer Lucas Paqueta at left wing, with Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals also filling in at times when Cornet is arguably the out-an-out option they’ve required.
Injuries have played a massive part in Cornet’s downfall in East London but his lack of minutes will be a personal concern for him given he is currently in his prime years and he is clearly out in the cold under Moyes.
West Ham United certainly have priority positions which need addressing in January but in order to do that, they need to sell players and it won’t be long before Moyes has chairman David Sullivan on the phone asking to seal a healthy financial cash boost on the rarely-seen attacker.

He needs to quit in order to kickstart his career again, and West Ham United must stand to benefit.
