David Sullivan may sack Tim Steidten after new West Ham United transfer development

Tim Steidten has been given total control over transfers at West Ham United this summer, and it could not have started worse for the German.

Looking to target Brazil for Julen Lopetegui, Steidten and representatives have been in South America with zero success so far.

Moves for Flamengo defender Fabricio Bruno and Corinthians attacker Wesley Gassova have started and then broken down, with a third now suffering that fate.

Jacob Steinburg reported on 3 June that a move for Palmeiras star Luis Guilherme has now broken down at the London Stadium, despite medicals being discussed hours ago.

Tim Steidten faces West Ham United sack

It was only on Sunday 2 June that James Nursey suggested that questions would need to be asked about Steidten should a move for Guilherme fail.

A little over 24 hours later, that exact development happened, and if The Mirror journalist is right, David Sullivan will be far from happy right now.

The German was in a constant squabble with David Moyes over transfers, and with the appointment of Lopetegui confirmed, he was then given the reins.

That has not worked out at all, so far.

The transfer window hasn’t actually opened yet, but with the European Championships and Copa America to come within days, things won’t exactly get easier.

With three transfer flops already confirmed, any more bad news could spell exactly that for Steidten, who could be facing the sack from Sullivan at the London Stadium already.

In other West Ham news, an update has emerged on the club’s pursuit to sign a striker who scored 33 goals in 2023/24.
