David Sullivan cannot be serious after what David Moyes said about West Ham United exit

David Sullivan is often a figure at West Ham who splits opinion among those at the London Stadium.

The Hammers owner was praised for the number of new additions during the summer transfer window, with Julen Lopetegui being backed in the market.

However, all of that hard work, if not already undone by the new manager, has been thrown away after David Moyes’ latest reveal about his exit from the managerial role this summer.

It was well known that the Scot had a new contract on the table during the 2023/24 campaign, and while the Hammers were majorly struggling in the Premier League, there were mixed opinions about whether he should stay.

The main issue was the uncertainty over the managerial role moving forward, and now Moyes has dropped the bombshell that Sullivan actually took the contract offer away from him.

Some fans will argue that the decision was warranted after a poor string of results, overseeing a loss to Bristol City in the FA Cup, thrashings by Manchester United and Arsenal and being held to a draw by Sheffield United.

However, if Sullivan chooses to offer the manager a new contract, he should stick to his guns and keep faith in him rather than feed him to the pack of dogs waiting outside the London Stadium.

Fans were frustrated by the unknowingness of who was going to be the manager ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, and rightly so, but it was clearly unfair to blame Moyes, who had all power taken away from him.

While the end of Moyes’ tenure ended on a sour note, he brought so much to the football club after returning for a second stint, even helping lift a European trophy for the first time in decades.

They even finished in a top-seven spot, which helped the Hammers qualify for Europe, eventually leading to the journey to Prague and creating history for the East London side.

It seemed that the club were ready to go in a new direction, and part ways with the manager, but Sullivan clearly went the wrong way about it and Moyes should be praised for his respectful and mature response whenever talking about West Ham.
