Danny Dyer aims hilarious jibe at West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen

Lifelong West Ham United fan Danny Dyer has claimed he didn’t know who Jarrod Bowen has before he joined the Hammers.

The winger burst onto the scene for the Irons having impressed at Hull City after making his late rise up the footballing ladder late into his career.

Fast forward a couple of years, not only is the forward one of David Moyes’ top performers, he is now an England international which has certainly helped his love life with him coupled up with Dyer’s daughter, Dani Dyer.

“I remember when he first came, I wasn’t sure. I’d never heard of him,” Dyer joked in an interview with West Ham.

“And then he came on and we thought “ooh, he’s different, he’s smart”. He very, very rarely loses the ball. Some of the goals he’s scored, I mean, the one against Chelsea – oh.

“And again, I get tearful watching him now because I’m very close to the man, and he’s part of my family now, so it just adds to it, so long may it continue.”

If Dyer didn’t know who Bowen was before he joined West Ham, or so he likes to joke, he certainly does now.

The 25-year-old has had a fairy-tale last couple of years which nobody including himself could have anticipated.

The way he has gone from strength to strength with the east Londoners has been mesmerising.

Not one fan expected him to reach the levels that he has when he first made his move but here he is.

His antics on the pitch have seen him focused on a little bit more in the celebrity world with him being with cockney legend Dyer’s daughter who has a large following herself through her time on Love Island.

There is no concern about that impacting his football though because Bowen is laser-focused on his goals. Fair play to the lad though, he is enjoying all the success he deserves and long may it continue.
