Daniel Kretinsky seems unlikely to complete full West Ham takeover in the future

Daniel Kretinsky’s current stance on West Ham suggests that he probably has no plans of fully taking control of the club after purchasing a minority stake.

When the Czech billionaire bought a minority stake in the club, it seemed like the eventual plans were to perhaps assume full control in the future.

In early February, there was some fuel added to the fire when reports circulated that he secretly met LLDC CEO Lyn Garner over potentially taking over the London Stadium.

However, according to club insiders contacted by Six Foot Two [13 February], that has been rubbished and he wasn’t even at the game against Chelsea despite reports in the media.

It’s also been revealed that he has never met Garner and there seem to be no plans to do so on the horizon so a stadium takeover can be ruled out right away.

However, what’s more, worrying for West Ham fans keen on new ownership is that Kretinsky appears to be at arm’s length whenever it comes to any discussions with the club.

Rather than being someone who’s part of the long-term decision-making process, the Czech tends to keep his distance and is showing no inclination towards taking charge.

He treats the club as one of the 50 companies he’s invested in and nothing more which clearly means that he’s just in it for the profits and not because he has any grand plans for the club.

For the current Hammers ownership to change, those looking at Kretinsky to be the messiah will be disappointed and it’s going to have to come from someone on the outside.

Currently, the club’s Premier League status appears to be the focus and David Moyes’ future also is uncertain and that could very much change depending on where the club finishes at the end of the season.
