Crysencio Summerville must start for West Ham United v Nottingham Forest after what he did

Crysencio Summerville must start for West Ham United against Nottingham Forest if they wish to come away with a win in the Premier League from the City Ground on Saturday (2 November).

The attacker was brought into the London Stadium over the summer transfer window as one of Julen Lopetegui’s marquee signings but he hasn’t yet been afforded much of a run in the first-team.

The Spaniard has instead chosen to use Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus on the flanks and while the Englishman has arguably been West Ham’s best player this term, the latter has left a lot to be desired.

The Dutchman was brought on for Carlos Soler at half-time of their 2-1 win over Manchester United on Sunday (27 October) and made his presence more than known, even scoring the Hammers’ opening goal.

Why West Ham United need to start Crysencio Summerville

Thanks to Kudus’ outburst against Tottenham on 19 October, the Ghana international has found himself suspended which means a gap has opened up in Lopetegui’s starting XI.

While Soler was initially chosen to start against Erik Ten Hag’s men, it’s evident that Summerville had a far greater impact on the clash than the Spaniard as he changed the game for the Hammers when he came on.

The Dutchman was crowned the Championship’s Player of the Season last term after contributing to 31 goals across all competitions.

This number isn’t something that should be frowned upon and further outlines why West Ham must start the 23-year-old against Forest.

Lopetegui’s future has been under some major scrutiny recently but, if West Ham keeps putting in performances like their recent clash against Man United, it’s hard to see how the Hammers could sanction his departure.

Only time will tell what Lopetegui will do but if he wants to save his job, starting Summerville against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men could be a way for him to do that.
