Crysencio Summerville decision obvious ahead of West Ham United v Manchester United

Julen Lopetegui has every right to be furious with Mohammed Kudus after the West Ham star was sent off against Tottenham on Saturday (19 October).

Already 4-1 down to Ange Postecoglou’s side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Ghanaian rubbed salt into the wounds after losing his cool with Micky van de Ven, lashing out at the defender.

Despite all of the Hammers’ business during the summer transfer window, Lopetegui has few options to choose from when it comes to his attacking lineup, which could be disastrous against Manchester United.

While Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen are both likely to be available, it leaves the left flank open for another player, with Kudus being charged by the FA due to the controversial moment at the weekend.

One player who can slip into the position rather seamlessly is Crysencio Summerville, a winger who has been dubbed “special” by journalist Suleyman Ozturk during his time at Leeds United [Voetbal International website].

Julen Lopetegui must start Crysencio Summerville in West Ham United v Manchester United

The 22-year-old Dutchman has only started one Premier League game since arriving at the London Stadium this summer, but Lopetegui cannot keep him out of the lineup any longer.

Last season, albeit starring in the Championship, Summerville notched 19 goals and nine assists in the league and earned his £25million move away from Elland Road [BBC Sport].

Given his exploits for the Whites last term, he will undoubtedly be disappointed with his lack of game time under Lopetegui. Kudus’ red card means the manager’s hands are tied now.

Man United have certainly struggled defensively so far this season, and if Summerville can impress against the Red Devils on Sunday 27 October, he could keep Kudus out of the team moving forward.
