Vladimir Coufal may never feature under Julen Lopetegui again at West Ham after being hooked at half-time against Liverpool.

The Hammers suffered a heavy defeat on Sunday (29 December) as Arne Slot's side scored five without reply at the London Stadium.

Changes were made at the interval to help change the tide as Jean-Clair Todibo and Niclas Fullkrug were called upon but failed to have the desired effect.

This is likely to leave Coufal frustrated but he may be happier after the latest sack development for Lopetegui in East London.

The Spaniard has come under heavy scrutiny since replacing David Moyes in the summer but could soon be on the chopping block.

David Sullivan has been reluctant to sack the ex-Real Madrid boss until now but is quickly running out of patience and could press the eject button if the Irons suffer a heavy defeat against Manchester City [GiveMeSport].

This would make the clash at the Etihad on Saturday (4 January) Lopetegui's last in charge of the East London outfit.

After being withdrawn at the break last time out, there is every chance that Coufal misses out on the starting XI against the champions and may not even feature from the bench.

If that is the case, the Czechia international will have already played for the final time under the former Wolves boss and may be able to look ahead to playing under a new head coach.

It will certainly be interesting to see if the manager is sacked after the City clash and where the ex-Slavia Prague man's future lies.
