West Ham United made a number of changes to their side for the FA Cup clash against Stockport County on Monday evening.
David Moyes brought in the likes of Michail Antonio and Manuel Lanzini and did keep the likes of Declan Rice in his side to ensure their route to round four.
Craig Dawson came to the rescue late on at Edgeley Park, with the defender heading home after more than 80 minutes struggling to break the deadlock.
Lanzini was nothing short of shocking.
The South American will have been desperate to get out on to the pitch from the start, but he simply wasted his chance on Monday evening.
The playmaker struggled offensively against the non-league opposition, and only won 16.7% of his duels according to WyScout.
It didn’t get any better when you look into his attacking stats, either. Lanzini didn’t win any of his offensive duels, as well as failing to complete any crosses or dribbles.
Jarrod Bowen has been superb this season and has bettered Lanzini in every single department – averaging more shots, key passes and dribbles per 90 minutes according to WhoScored.
Lanzini has only started one game in the Premier League, and we won’t be expecting that to change any time soon.
The 27-year-old wasted his golden opportunity to force himself into the first-team and was bullied out of this one against tough opposition.
Moyes won’t be changing his mind on his side going into the game against Burnley, and we expect Bowen to keep his spot at the London Stadium.
