West Ham United source shares what they were told after David Moyes contract news
West Ham fans are beginning to question the board after David Moyes confirmed new contract talks were well underway, as their previous stance seems contradictory, according to Claret & Hugh.
The West Ham news source has claimed they were told by the board in 2023 that after an awful season last time out, and with plenty of this one to go, they would take their time in making a decision.
However, just over halfway into the season, it appears a contract is now on the table despite the frustrating and declining results in recent weeks.
Moyes new contract edging closer
After the transfer window closed on 1 February, the Hammers boss insisted they would return to contract negotiations, with those talks already “well down the line” [The Standard, 2 February].
This was then followed up by an update from Sean Whetstone claiming the boss would “100%” sign a new deal.
However, this has not come as music to the ears of fans at the London Stadium. A 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on deadline day, followed by a 3-0 pasting at the hands of Manchester United, has led to further annoyance.
Despite their lofty league position of seventh, with United leapfrogging them after that victory, West Ham fans remain unhappy with the style of play under Moyes and the latest results back up those complaints.

Jeff Stelling had recently told one Hammers fan to “get a grip” during a debate over Moyes’ future, with plenty of pundits taking the side of the manager after his achievements in East London, although plenty of fans disagree.
In other West Ham news, Andy Gray could not believe what he saw against Manchester United.
