Premier League set to make major PSR announcement as West Ham find out fate
West Ham are set to find out whether they have breached Premier League profit and sustainability rules on Wednesday.
Top-flight clubs had to submit audited versions of their accounts to the Premier League by 31 December, and they are expected to learn their fate on 14 January.
The London Stadium outfit are allowed to lose up to £105million over a three-season period, and not face any sanctions, just like the rest of the teams in the division.
David Sullivan and Co have already spent nearly £50m in this window, but that will not impact this calculation.

West Ham compliant with PSR rules in three-year first
All 20 top-flight clubs are expected to be PSR compliant for the first time in three years, according to The i Paper.
Speaking to the news outlet on 13 January, Professor Rob Wilson, a football finance expert, said that “no one will be having sleepless nights this year.”
He stated that the potential of further breaches and UEFA’s stricter financial rules mean that less business should be expected in the January window.
Premier League clubs are not as willing to part with their money, due to the sanctions handed over to Nottingham Forest and Everton recently, as Wilson claimed it has had a “huge impact.”
Nuno Espirito Santo expected to keep spending at West Ham
Given that the Hammers are not in danger of an immediate breach, Nuno Espirito Santo‘s spending spree is expected to continue.
West Ham have already brought in Pablo and Taty Castelllanos to bolster their forward line, and attention is now expected to turn to the rest of the squad in the rest of the window.
- West Ham are currently sitting 18th in the Premier League
- They are seven points from safety, with 17 matches left to play this season
- They have won just three matches in the league so far
The likes of Charlie Cresswell and Eric Dier have been linked as potential defensive additions, and new midfielders are also needed in E20 if they are to escape the possibility of relegation to the Championship.
If the London club could sell Lucas Paqueta to Flamengo for a significant sum, then that would surely allow them to spend even more, and not concern themselves with PSR rules in the near future.
