Kieran Maguire uses West Ham in reaction to ‘incredible’ Stoke City news

Kieran Maguire has claimed West Ham are getting the deal of the century with the London Stadium after it emerged that Stoke City pay £1million more in rent than the Hammers.

The football finance expert reported via his X account that Stoke pay over £1million per year for the bet365 Stadium in the Potteries than West Ham do for their ground in East London.

This came after Stoke released their financial accounts for the year, calling the update “incredible” as he was left stunned by the difference in expense between the clubs’ rent.

“Incredible that Stoke are paying over £1m a year rent for the Bet365 stadium in the Potteries than West Ham are paying for the London Stadium,” Maguire wrote on X, before using the hashtag “deal of the century”.

The Hammers continue to benefit

West Ham play in a 60,000-seater stadium every week, in London, with all of that ticket revenue along with other sources of matchday revenue meaning the club makes a considerable amount of money, which can then be invested into the transfer market.

All of that for a lower price than Stoke are paying for their 30,000-seater stadium in Staffordshire. This proves just how fortunate the Hammers have been in their deal to rent the former Olympic Stadium.

However, there has been plenty of controversy surrounding the deal for West Ham to rent the London Stadium in recent weeks after scrutiny emerged surrounding the price of food and drinks at the stadium compared to others in London.

Maguire previously claimed Hammers fans are being “taken for a ride” with regard to the catering prices, so it’s not all rosy in East London, but their deal for the rent on the London Stadium is certainly a positive.
