West Ham are battling Nottingham Forest and Brentford to sign Strasbourg striker Habib Diallo, according to TEAMtalk.

The news outlet claims the Hammers have held a long-term interest in the 28-year-old, with the Ligue 1 side "aware of the growing interest" and ready to let him move on if they receive a "suitable offer" for his services.

The Senegal international, who The Athletic journalist Alex Barker once tipped to be the "next Didier Drogba", scored 20 goals in 37 appearances for Strasbourg last season to help them fight off relegation.

Sign him up

Diallo has all the hallmarks of a striker that could thrive in David Moyes’s style of play due to his size, ability to hold the ball up and his pace to get in behind defences.

The forward had an excellent campaign in a struggling side and proved he is more than capable of scoring plenty of goals, so he could thrive with better quality players around him.

The Sun reported on 11 June that Strasbourg could be willing to let Diallo, who has a contract up until 2025, leave for a fee in the region of £15million.

West Ham

It's not very often that you get the opportunity to sign a player that has scored so many goals in a European league for such a modest fee and the Hammers need to strengthen their attacking options.

It looks unlikely that he's going to remain at his current club beyond this transfer window, so it's time for us to get our chequebook out and test their resolve.
