Reported West Ham target Habib Diallo harbours "dreams" of playing in England but suitors will have to act fast with Rennes ready to bid for the Strasbourg striker, according to L'Equipe.

The French publication says it will cost a little over £17million to prise the Senegal international away from his current employers.

According to L'Equipe, the Hammers, Burnley and Brentford are the clubs in England tracking his situation.

However, Rennes are said to be interested into Diallo too as they look to improve their squad ahead of a Europa League campaign next term.

Diallo scored 20 goals in 37 Ligue 1 appearances last term as Strasbourg finished 15th.

Firepower needed at West Ham

It is little surprise that West Ham have been linked with so many strikers already during the transfer window.

Gianluca Scamacca struggled to properly adapt to David Moyes' style of play since joining from Sassuolo and looks set to return to Serie A with Roma.

Danny Ings was brought in during the January window but managed only two top-flight goals and the Hammers will want to see more from the ex-Aston Villa man next term.

And Michail Antonio may even depart for pastures new depending on what business gets done.

So, in short, West Ham need more bodies up front. Arsenal strikers Florian Balogun and Eddie Nketiah have both been mooted but will likely cost a lot of money and competition for both players would be fierce if they are available.

Diallo maybe represents somewhat more of a risk but it could be a gamble that yields a big return for Moyes.
