West Ham have reportedly sent scouts to watch Wolves target and Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott on international duty.
According to the Daily Mail [3 April], the Hammers were among the clubs watching the 19-year-old in action for England U20s against France in Marbella last week.
However, the midfielder who has been likened to Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish, unfortunately, picked up a knee ligament injury so the scouts failed to gauge too much of his ability.
Tad expensive?
Nigel Pearson is hoping to get the £25million Bristol City have been asking for and it's hard to argue with that price given today's market.
Scott appears to be a future England international and one likely to be a regular call-up in the next five to seven years.
Any side signing him now, are likely to make a profit of 100 per cent if he does end up leaving for a top club in a few years.
Signing him for that kind of money may seem expensive now, particularly because he's not proven outside the Championship.
However, if they get a potential game changer in a couple of years, it's a gamble worth taking and he can be a squad player until he gets there.
Declan Rice appears to be on his way out and if West Ham view Scott as his long-term replacement then it makes sense to invest in him.
