West Ham United have absolutely no hope of beating Liverpool in their Premier League clash on Sunday, according to John Brewin.

Speaking on talkSPORT (29 December, 11:29am), the journalist's three-word verdict left Max Rushden and Barry Glendenning in stitches as he swiftly dismissed the Hammers' chances of beating Liverpool.

Julen Lopetegui's side are unbeaten in four and defeated Southampton last time out, but face a Reds team sat six points clear at the Premier League summit, who've already beaten the Irons 5-1 this season.

Rushden asked: "Do you give West Ham any hope at home to Liverpool?"

"Absolutely not, no", Brewin immediately replied, sparking laughter from both Rushden and Glendenning.

West Ham must avoid mistakes of recent past v Liverpool

The Hammers will complete their first half of Premier League fixtures at the London Stadium on Sunday, with game 19 providing their toughest test yet – against Arne Slot's runaway leaders.

Slot has already shown he's got Lopetegui's number this season, dumping them out of the EFL Cup in brutal fashion at Anfield on a night to forget both on and off the pitch for the Irons.

Liverpool have earned many admirers with their performances this term – including London Stadium board member Karren Brady – but their 5-1 victory showed how far off the pace Lopetegui's side are.

With the Spaniard likely to be without defender Max Kilman, who has been an ever-present so far, it remains to be seen how the Hammers are set up to avoid a repeat of their humbling in September.

Liverpool's last trip to the capital saw them thump Tottenham 6-3 in a gung-ho performance, but having already been on the end of some heavy defeats, the time is now for Lopetegui to tighten things up.
