'Crazy' contract demands made in new West Ham United player twist

West Ham striker Divin Mubama has made "crazy" demands over a new contract, after reports claimed he had turned down a new deal in East London, according to Claret & Hugh.

The online news outlet shared on 31 October that the contract talks fell through, for now, as a result of the demands the 19-year-old has made, but the club remain hopeful he can be convinced.

Mubama has struggled for minutes under David Moyes this season and the recent reports in The Athletic [30 October] that contract negotiations have stalled has led to criticism of the boss.

A compromise needs to be met

West Ham won't want to risk losing their prized academy product for free when his current contract expires at the end of the season, and a compromise should be met to ensure he remains at the London Stadium for his long-term future.

Mubama will be hoping for more playing time if he is to sign a new deal. His only competitive minutes so far this season have come in a 34-minute cameo in the League Cup win against Lincoln, and he was given just one minute against Freiburg in the Europa League. [Sofascore]

Given the struggles West Ham have faced in the striker department so far this season, with both Michail Antonio and especially Danny Ings disappointing, it is a surprise that Mubama hasn't featured more for the Hammers.

This news has become the latest in a line of frustrating decisions under Moyes, after a report by Claret & Hugh on 30 October claimed the club are becoming fed up with the manager and he is edging closer to facing the sack at the London Stadium.
